District 70 won't be getting a new look, or a new logo design, after all. The school board voted 2-3 Tuesday night in rejecting the logo design that emerged as the top choice from an online survey. The vote took place at the board's regular meeting held at Prairie Winds Elementary School.

The proposed logo design was created by Rita Pando, supervisor of printing and graphics for the district. Pando designed several logos which were displayed on the Internet for the public to vote on. Ed Smith, assistant superintendent, said the logo brought to the board Tuesday was the most popular selection from the online survey. Pantello and Rhodes both commended Pando for the work she did in creating the logos but said the timing just wasn't right.

"It was a wonderful logo and it might be something we might look at in the future," said Pantello. "But I would like to see the entire community, students, staff and parents involved in the process."
