A 12-year-old Benton girl's design has been chosen as the logo to represent Benton Utilities. Hollie Wright, daughter of Glen and Heather Wright, was named winner in a logo contest that drew more than 40 entries, Linda McAdoo, the city's purchasing agent, said.
Hollie is a seventh-grader at Benton Middle School. Her design features the words Benton Utilities stacked on top of each other and underscored by a manhole with the lid to one side, a water faucet dripping water into the “U” of the word utilities, and a power pole on the right side at back.
The purpose of the contest was to “acquire a logo to represent all of the departments and to make our equipment and personnel easily recognized when encountered by the citizens as well as to distinguish us as Benton Utilities,” McAdoo said. The logo will be utilized to mark all vehicles, equipment, and uniforms worn by employees of Benton Utilities, she noted. “We hope the logo will appear on city vehicles within a couple of months,” she added.
