Scorpions Unveil New Team Logo Design and Color Scheme

The New Mexico Scorpions, who will resume play in the Central Hockey League (CHL) this October in the new, state-of-the-art Rio Rancho Events Center, today unveiled a newly redesigned team logo design, color scheme and uniforms at a press conference held at the newest Chili's Grill & Bar, 1001 Unser Blvd SE, Rio Rancho.

The new Scorpions logo features an animated, yet angry looking tan-colored scorpion snapping a hockey stick with its pinchers. Surrounding the scorpion in a half moon shape are the words "New Mexico" in white text, inside a black band while the name "Scorpions" appears below the character in black, block text outlined in white. The scorpion itself is accentuated on a field of deep, maroon-like red.

The new Scorpions logo design was crafted by Mike Tungate, graphic artist with Graphic Connection Custom Sports Apparel, 4901-A Paseo del Norte NE, Albuquerque. "We were looking for a more fan-friendly design," said Tungate. "We collaborated with ownership and came up with several ideas. Through the process, we knew we wanted a more aggressive scorpion and a more unique look for the players (uniforms)."
