Hockey Team Changes Logo Design

Idaho Steelheads today unveiled a new logo design and jersey design. The new look for the Steelheads reflects the spirit of Idaho and the fast, fierce nature of Steelheads hockey as the team prepares for its tenth anniversary season in 2006-07.

Featuring a new color scheme of blue, black and silver, the primary logo design of the hockey team features Idaho's jagged mountain peaks, timbered forests and puck swooshing down a river of motion. The new secondary logo depicts the hardest-fighting fresh water fish - the steelhead.

New home white jerseys feature the primary logo on the chest and the secondary logo on the black shoulders. The sweaters are accented by the blue and silver-trimmed speed stripe curving up the sides of the torso and down the arm. Each side of the jersey features silhouettes of Idaho's pine forests in black, trimmed with silver. On the blue road jerseys, the speed stripe is white trimmed with silver, and the forest is blue with silver outline.

'We feel our new identity communicates the continued professional approach we employ on game nights, while also reflecting our love for Boise, Idaho as our hometown," said Eric Trapp, Steelheads' General Manager. Trapp said the new team logo and jerseys are the first phase of the team's updated branding process, with a new mascot, website and other announcements coming in the future as Idaho skates into its second decade.
